Moroccan partridge shooting 

Moroccan partridge shooting at Taroudant/Chafarni is an opportunity to enjoy a shooting holiday in Morocco combining the most challenging Gambra partridges in the wilderness, the best winter climate and the traditional Moroccan hospitality at the imperial town of Taroudant.

Taroudant is an approximate 45 minutes drive from the modern airport of Agadir, which serves several international direct flights, and is also well connected via Casablanca.

Hunting Season & Climate Conditions:

The Moroccan partridge shooting season runs from early October until the end of February. Weather conditions in the region of Taroudant and Chafarni, are very mild from the middle of October through to the end of December; with cooler mornings and sunny days later in January and February.  Average temperatures are around 18ºC.  Extended daily programmes can be arranged to enjoy the famous golf and beach resorts in Agadir.

Shooting Area:

“Domain Chafarni” is situated in the fauna & flora reserve, located approximately 65Km from Taroudant, at the base of the Atlas Mountains, offering breathtaking views.  It has an area of 3,000 hectares of undulated landscape, with some fabulous valleys, combining Arganiers, Palmiers, mountain pines and arbustive vegetation, providing an ideal biotope for the gambra partridge.  Some wild boars and the protected gazelles are also found in this area of Moroccan partridge shooting.

Accommodation:

We can recommend the following accommodation options, to be selected well in advance, taking into consideration each location and driving distance to the shoot:

Hotel La Gazelle D’Or (Taroudant):  World famous boutique hotel, offering 30 luxury bungalows within an “oasis” garden, spa and swimming pool, refined cuisine and classic piano bar.  Prices range from €400 to €700 per suite/night, including breakfast and dinner.  An approximate 55 minutes drive to the shoot.  (www.gazelledor.com)

Hotel Dar Zitoune (Taroudant):  Provides relaxation in the beautiful olive and citrus gardens.  It offers 20 bungalows and suites, fully equipped and decorated in the Berber style.  Live Arabic music every night in the traditional restaurant.  Prices range from €120 to €350 per room per night.  An approximate 50 minutes from the shoot.  (www.darzitoune.com)

Hotel Palais Salam (Taroudant):  Adjacent to the famous town walls with its pleasant Moroccan architecture, the hotel offers good service and spacious rooms.  Prices range from €120 to €200, including breakfast and dinner.  An approximate 50 minutes drive to the shoot. (www.palaisalam.com)

Shooting Party and Package:

Moroccan partridge Shooting parties can vary from 5 up to 8 guns.  The anticipated daily bag varies upon the selected package, with either 3 or 5 drives per day.  Partridges shot and wounded are counted by the “secretarios” who shouts loudly, and is agreed with the gun after each drive: so that the total bag accounted is calculated correctly. 

Non shooting guests are very welcome to join the party during the shoot, with the option to arrange special guided tours upon request.

Prices:

• Package 1 - anticipated daily bag of up to 300 partridges with 3 drives per day, €12,000 + VAT per group.
• Package 2 – anticipated daily bag of up to 500 partridges with 5 drives per day, €17.500 + VAT per group.
• Extra Partridges shot over the anticipated daily bag will be charged at €33 + VAT per bird.
• Per non shooting guest at an additional cost of €150 + VAT per day. 
• Shooting Licence, insurance, temporary gun import permit and hunting tax at €350 per gun.

Price includes:

*  All shooting costs: beaters, game keepers, ammunition, dog handlers, transport on shoot, 1 loader and 1 secretario per gun, ammunition for 12, 16 and 20 bore. Also provided are leather gun sleeves, stools and leather cartridge bags.
*  Typical Moroccan aperitifs and meals served in the field during the shoot, at the tented camp.
*  Group meeting at Agadir airport with all guns documentation ready and transport in minibuses or 4WD cars to the hotel, and through the field, and permanent guide/interpreter assistance.

Price excludes:

*  Estate taxes (T.V.A. at 20% over total cost), all hotel expenses; to be paid directly by each gun.
*  Tips to keepers and staff, please allow a total of €50 per gun per shooting day, to be collected at the end of the shoot.

Terms & Conditions:

* Moroccan Partridge shooting is offered strictly subject to availability and bookings cannot be confirmed until we are in receipt of the signed agreement and the 50% deposit.  The balance shall be paid no later than 6 weeks the departure to Morocco.

* To obtain the necessary hunting licence and insurance we require the following at least 45 days before departure:
• Photocopy of each gun’s passport
• Copy of each guns local shooting licence
• 4 passport photographs
• Completed booking form, pictures and the official form.
