Roving Syndicates

Roving syndicates for all field sports add an element of excitement both to the estate and to the hunter.  Let me explain; if you have been lucky enough to have had access to a regular sporting estate where shooting or fishing has been provided for you, sometimes free although more often than not for a 'commercial arrangement', you may have become a little stale and wonder what is out there in the world of sporting opportunities. Where driven shooting is concerned, the traditional way of getting  sport, if you were not a landowner or farmer, was to join a syndicate of guns who turn up at weekly or fortnightly intervals throughout the season to share in the fruits of their labours. (Syndicate members are encouraged to a greater or lesser degree in  helping the keeper out of season, pen building, rabbiting, general maintenance e.t.c.)  The costs of the shoot are divided between the syndicate and often this is a great way of getting cheap sport in the company of a regular group.  However syndicate membership does have its drawbacks and as many teams of friends have discovered it is exciting forming Roving Syndicates to roam around the country and sometimes overseas in pursuit of different shoots and quarries.

Davis and Bowring operate Roving syndicates for grouse, pheasant, partridge and Spanish partridge shooting; these are certainly proving to be popular as regular shooting teams are being broken up by mixed financial fortunes, so some individuals are left out in the cold with no team to shoot with.  Very often disparate groups of individuals enjoy shooting with complete strangers and end up forming their own Roving Syndicate, or Travelling Syndicate as we call them, bound together by a shared passion for great sport.

Roving syndicates for fishing have been popular for many years and there is a great range of sport available for individuals and part groups alike, both in the U.K and further afield.
